Governance

The governance of the Friends of King’s College Hospital is overseen by a Committee who are all Trustees of the Charity. The Committee is responsible for setting the Friends' strategic direction, ensuring financial accountability, and maintaining compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. We also have an ex officio Committee member, Patricia Mecinska, who is not a Trustee, but is an invaluable link between the Friends and the Trust.

Together, we ensure that all funds raised are used effectively to enhance patient care and support the hospital community.

Our work is funded entirely through donations, legacies, subscriptions, and income from the hospital shop.

We do not receive government funding and rely on the generosity of our supporters to carry out our vital services. Thanks to the ongoing commitment of our volunteers and donors, we are able to make a real difference in the lives of patients, their families, and the staff at King’s College Hospital.

Committee Member

Gina began her career at a law firm spending 20 years working in the litigation team. She left in 1998 to concentrate on charity work and raising her family. She joined the Kingfishers sub-committee in 2011 and became Co-Chair from 2019 to 2024, leading their fundraising and grant-giving activities. She joined the Friends in 2021. She has also been a community fundraiser for several other local charities including St Christopher’s Hospice and Link Age Southwark. During the COVID crisis, Gina trained and worked as a volunteer vaccinator at the Waldron Health Centre in New Cross.

I am a King’s College alumnus (Class of 1993) with a long standing career in Community Health service provision. In 2024, I was delighted to join the board of trustees at Friends of King’s Charity, bringing with me a commitment to support improvement in patient and staff wellbeing across the organisation.

Judy Rodway

Committee Member

Judy worked as a receptionist at the Middlesex Hospital, The Royal Marsend and at a GP Surgery. She also worked with Freedom Health who provide GP services to Gay men. She has volunteered at King's since October 2023.
